Spent Catalyst Testing

Used catalyst is not waste material. Recovering and recycling the internal metals could result in potentially high recovery value. At Ledoux & Company, we have significant experience and expertise assaying the value of used catalysts from a variety of industrial applications. We are ISO 17025 accredited, giving you an assurance of quality, professionalism and integrity.

As an independent laboratory of long standing, we’re an impartial third party and all trading partners can agree on the fair value of our metal content analysis. Here is how we respond to the catalyst recovery needs of various industries.

Spent Industrial Catalysts
Spent industrial catalysts used in the oil refining and petrochemical industries are potentially full of precious metals and have a valuable second life. We’ll assay your spent catalysts to determine the trace amounts of gold, silver, platinum, palladium or rhenium they might contain, so you can earn the highest possible recovery rate. Our testing methods are accurate, reliable and environmentally sound.

Reforming Catalysts
After you’ve retired this type of catalyst from the petroleum industry or refinery, we can analyze the platinum and rhenium content for maximum recovery value.

Spent and Fresh Automotive Catalysts
Just as fresh catalyst can be sampled and tested for high-value precious metal content prior to being incorporated into various applications, so too can exhausted catalysts. You’ll find that they retain a high recovery value. Whether you present us with monolith, diesel or wash coat catalysts, we can provide top-quality analysis within a prompt turnaround time.

Silver-Based Ethylene Oxide (EO) Catalyst
Ethylene oxide is used to produce a wide variety of consumer products. As a catalyst in EO production, silver is ever-present. Ledoux & Company can accurately test for soluble silver, insoluble silver and total silver with industry standard methods.

Vinyl Acetate Monomer (VAM) Catalyst
This catalyst is used in the manufacture of coatings, adhesives and textiles. Once it’s retired, we can properly analyze the contents for valuable internal palladium and gold content.
